DESCRIPTION:

Gel-Adhesive based on high-strength cement, selected aggregates, additives and synthetic resins that contribute to its excellent workability and high bonding strength.

USES AND FIELDS OF APPLICATION:

UNIVERSALFIX is a flexible one-component powder gel-adhesive with extended open time and zero vertical slip. Excellent workability, great whiteness and high adhesion. Suitable for laying indoor and outdoor floor and wall coverings.

  • Laying of new paving over existing paving.
  • Suitable for pavements subject to heavy traffic.
  • Suitable for underfloor heating and swimming pools.
  • For bonding all types of ceramic tiles, stoneware, porcelain stoneware, natural and artificial stone, granite, marble, vitreous mosaic.
  • Suitable for gypsum or anhydrite substrates.
  • Avoids having to wet parts or supports thanks to its water retention power.
  • High open time, allows the grinding of parts.

PRECAUTIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS:

  • Respect the mixing water.
  • In walls, the weight of the parts must not be ≥40 kg/m².
  • Always double-glue on exterior walls and for the
placement of large format pieces (>30X30cm) and/or heavy weights.
  • Do not apply directly on plaster substrates. Apply sealer beforehand. AGMA-CH.
  • Do not apply on wooden substrates, metal surfaces or PVC.
  • Do not apply below 5ºC and do not apply above 30ºC.
  • Do not apply when there is a risk of frost, rain, strong winds or direct sunlight.

PERFORMANCE:

The approximate yield is 3.5kg/m² single glued and 6kg/m² double glued.

PRESENTATION:

Presented in 25kg plastic-coated paper sacks. Pallet of 50 units. Total 1250kg

  • Never apply with the technique known as "dotting".
  • Do not apply in areas where there is danger of standing water.
  • On Heated Soils, this must be interrupted during application and within seven days thereafter.
  • Temperatures, ventilation, substrate absorption and coating materials may vary the workability and setting times of the adhesive.
  • In extreme weather conditions (very windy or high temperatures), drying occurs faster than normal.
  • It is recommended to leave a free perimeter expansion joint between the flooring and the wall or pillar, hidden by the skirting board, of approximately 5 mm.
  • For gypsum-based substrates, prepare the substrate with AGMA CH (Sealer), avoiding dead plaster and weak plaster.

Implementing rules

SUPPORTS:

Plasterboard partitions (plasterboard, including waterproofing), cement plaster, concrete and cellular cement screeds, self-levelling mortars and pastes. Interior and exterior floor and wall coverings.

PREPARATION OF THE SUPPORT:
  • The substrates must be sound, dry, dust-free and flat.
  • All substrates must have adequate flatness. If this is not the case, apply up to 5 mm of the same product 48 hours before gluing.

For greater thicknesses, it should be used:

  • On screeds: levelling paste LEVELAND 5-50
  • In coatings: regularising mortars with adequate tensile strength and with the curing shrinkage already completed.
  • Very dry, porous and hot substrates: wet the substrate and wait for the water film to disappear.
  • The temperature of the wall and application should be between 5ºC and 30ºC.
  • In outdoor pavements, the substrate shall have a slope equal to or greater than 1%.

PRODUCT PREPARATION:

Mix the adhesive with clean water (see technical data table). Knead with a low speed electric mixer (~ 500 rpm) until a homogeneous mass is obtained, leave to stand for about 2 minutes and knead again before application.

APPLICATION:
  • GAMAFORT is applied with a suitable notched trowel depending on the format and characteristics of the back of the tile (see Mixing the adhesive, trowel chart).
  • For good adhesion, apply a first thin layer on the substrate with the smooth side of the trowel and then adjust the appropriate thickness with the notched side according to the type and format of the tile.
  • Use the double-gluing technique for outdoor applications or formats larger than 900 cm².
  • Spread the adhesive to cover ±2 m2 with an open application time > 30 min.
  • The shorter the time between combing and laying the tile, the better the results will be.
LAYING OF THE TILE:
  • Wet and wash the tiles with clean water, only if the back of the tiles are very dusty.
  • Approximate pot-life is 2 hours.
  • Lay and flatten the tiles to break the groove and facilitate gluing. Check the adhesion of the paste from time to time. If a film forms on the surface, trowel the material and continue working.
  • Never wet the adhesive when film-forming as water forms an anti-adhesive film.
  • The installed coatings must not be exposed to rain or washing within 24 hours and must be protected from frost and intense sunlight for 5-7 days.
GROUTING AND SEALING:
  • Respect construction joints (expansion, contraction, splitting, perimeter corner joints) and tile-to-tile joints (minimum 2 mm inside and 5 mm outside).
  • The joints shall be filled after 6 hours for vertical surfaces and 24 hours for floors.
CLEANING:
  • Stains of limescale residues on ceramic pieces can be removed with DETER-CAL. ( See FT.)
  •  Clean the tools with plenty of water before the paste is completely dry.
COMMISSIONING:
  • Surfaces and pavements can be commissioned within 7 days. Passable within 24 hours.
  • Surfaces can be polished after 14 days dry.
